What is a Legal Document Assistant (LDA)? 

An LDA is a nonattorney professional authorized to prepare legal documents without attorney supervision. LDAs are bonded, registered, and trained to assist selfrepresented individuals.

Do you provide legal advice? 

No. LDAs cannot provide legal advice or represent clients in court. If you need legal guidance, we can refer you to a cooperating attorney within our network.

How long does the eviction process take? 

Timelines vary by county. 

Uncontested evictions: typically 2–3 months 

Contested evictions: typically 3–4 months 

 

Do you file and serve the documents? 

Yes. We prepare, file, and serve all necessary documents. We also coordinate with the Sheriff’s Office for lockouts when needed.

 

Can I hire an attorney if my case becomes contested? 

Yes. We work with cooperating landlord eviction attorneys who can represent you in court at discounted rates.
